Then add the time they woke up. The next nap window appears right here.
How the calculation works
Each age has a typical wake window: the span of time babies that age usually stay awake between sleeps. The calculator adds the short end and the long end of that range to your baby’s wake-up time. The result is the window when the next nap is likely to go most smoothly.
After the nap, start again from the new wake-up time. That’s the whole method, and it’s exactly what the Wake Window app does each time you tap “Baby Woke Up”.
The ranges it uses
| Age | Suggested wake window |
|---|---|
| 0–1 month | 30–60 min |
| 1–2 months | 60–90 min |
| 3–4 months | 1 hr 15 min – 2 hr |
| 5–6 months | 2 hr – 2 hr 45 min |
| 7–9 months | 2 hr 30 min – 3 hr 30 min |
| 10–13 months | 3 hr – 4 hr |
| 14–18 months | 4 hr – 5 hr 30 min |
Ages are completed months, so a baby who is 4 months and 3 weeks uses the 3–4 month range. See every age explained.
Common questions
What do I enter?
Your baby's age and the time they last woke up, whether that's in the morning or after a nap. The calculator adds the typical wake window for that age.
Why is the answer a window and not one time?
Babies vary, and so do days. A range gives you a sensible span to start winding down and watching for tired cues, rather than a single deadline.
What if my baby is older than 18 months?
The age-based ranges stop at 18 months. By then most children have their own rhythm. The Wake Window app lets you set a custom wake window.
Does the calculator store anything?
No. It runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is saved or sent anywhere.
