4-Month-Old Wake Windows

Most 4-month-olds stay awake about 1 hr 15 min – 2 hr between sleeps. It’s the range the Wake Window app uses for babies aged 3–4 months.

At 4 months

Four-month-olds share the 1 hr 15 min – 2 hr range with 3-month-olds, but they're at the older end of it, and many are comfortable closer to the two-hour mark.

Lots of parents notice sleep changing around this age, often called the 4-month sleep regression. Wake windows won't change that on their own, but keeping an eye on awake time can help you spot when your baby may be getting overtired.

Common questions

Can wake windows help with the 4-month sleep regression?

They can't stop it, but offering naps before your baby is overtired can make a rough patch a bit easier. If sleep changes worry you, talk to your pediatrician.

When does the range change again?

At 5 months, Wake Window's suggested range moves to 2 hr – 2 hr 45 min.
